Graduate Internship Programme


Public Consulting Group, Inc (PCG) is a multinational management consulting and operations firm based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, with offices throughout the US and Canada, and in Europe. It provides consulting and operations support to public sector clients in the fields of health, social care, education and technology. PCG seeks talented and motivated individuals to apply for a position in our Graduate Internship Programme. The Graduate Internship Programme provides an opportunity to receive training and mentoring in the UK and at PCG's headquarters in Boston, MA, or at other PCG offices in the USA, for a period of up to 12-18 months before rejoining the teams in the UK with the skills and knowledge required to be a full member of the consulting team.

The Graduate Internship Programme is designed for highly talented, motivated and results-oriented professionals with drive, determination and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team-oriented environment. The Programme provides the foundation for developing the necessary consulting skills to become a member of the PCG team. Throughout the 12-18 month programme, you will build your skills by working alongside talented senior consulting staff, and participating in the delivery of client projects. You will work on a variety of challenging assignments in our different practice areas to assist public sector clients achieve their performance goals and better serve populations in need. Your growth will be supported by a Practice Area Manager who will provide guidance and will monitor your involvement with project assignments. During your time in the US, you will remain in regular contact with the UK team, to ensure you draw lessons from your practical training for application in the UK. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our Graduate Internship Programme build a solid foundation for success through serving a diverse client base, playing an integral role on our project teams, participating in performance development activities, and experiencing PCG?s culture and values.

Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Providing project management support to senior team members
  • Coordinating project requirements and client expectations
  • Learning web-based technologies and developing system and process enhancements that continuously improve client?s experience
  • Directing general operations including web-based technology maintenance, client support/training, and client communications
  • Preparing and presenting written status reports for clients
  • Attending conferences/seminars and assisting with the development of materials and presentations
  • Participating on proposal development teams supporting the preparation, coordination, writing, and submission of proposals
  • Conducting policy reviews and other research
  • Gathering and analysing data
  • Conducting financial analysis for various clients including cost allocation plans, cost reports, and setting rates for services
  • Providing service to large school districts in the areas of special education management systems, data warehousing, data use methods, and school based revenue programmes
  • Defining, documenting and proposing suggested means to improving business processes

Required Skills include:

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, research, presentation, time management, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong English skills, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to relocate to the US for a period of 12-18 months
  • A detail oriented problem solving approach to business issues
  • Self-starter possessing intellectual curiosity
  • Enthusiasm for life-long learning and staying well-informed about current business issues
  • Proven ability to take initiative and move daily work forward
  • Good judgment in completing tasks and in seeking guidance when needed
  • A commitment to deliver exceptional client service and contribute in a team environment
  • Workload and travel flexibility based on client and team needs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, in particular Access, PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Additional experience using SQL or other Databases, Financial and/or Accounting Systems is beneficial
  • Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn
  • Core interest in finance, education, health care, government, or public consulting
  • Interest and aptitude to consider the applicability of the concepts learned during the Graduate Programme ?as they may relate to service delivery systems in London

Required Experience

  • Bachelor?s Degree required; Master?s degree preferred
  • Experience in education, health care or human services preferred
